Care for Kids builds DayCare Facility in South Africa with a team of Volunteers from M+W Group

In the townships in South Africa, many children are in preschool without appropriate care. The parents build temporary facilities with neighborhood support. To create a child-friendly supply here, these primitive nurseries need to be renovated and equipped accordingly. Care for Kids has therefore taken over the construction of the day care center "Tukelo DayCare" in Orange Farm township near Johannesburg.

Our project partner is the South African organization JAM (Joint Aid Management), with which we have already taken a nutrition sponsorship for a school in Angola.

Due to great interest from the M+W employees, a team was drawn from 16 volunteers. This left on 29 September 2012 for a memorable week to South Africa. They reported not only from hard work under hot sun and an interesting group dynamics in the team, but also of new impressions of a land full of contrasts between rich and poor, the friendly reception in the "JAM base" of the local organization (where the team in simple bungalows was accomodated), visits to a safari park and an apartheid memorial and then the crowning glory of the handover of the finished set up day-care center for the children and parents, with emotional reactions on both sides.

Care for Kids is grateful for the support of the project by the companies of the M+W Group, the staff of JAM International in South Africa and Germany, and of course to the volunteers.
